J Ross.
Rooted in Soweto.

J Ross, also known as JRoss, is Jamela John Ross Vuma: a South African gospel singer, songwriter, worship leader and music producer born in Pimville, Soweto.

Music began at home. His father, producer Tom Vuma, introduced him to the creative world of recording, while his mother surrounded him with gospel music. Those influences helped shape a career centred on faith, storytelling and musical expression.

Music, worship and renewal.

His catalogue includes Scrolls, Kasi Worship Live at Soweto Theatre and New Creation. The latest single, New Creation (Afrotech Remix), was released on 16 October 2026 through JROSSBEATS RECORDS.

Alongside his recording work, J Ross leads worship at Impact Christian Centre and hosts The Kingdom Plug on Impact103FM.

From the studio to the community.

His original scores for Lockdown and The Black Door received SAFTA awards in 2021 and 2023. Through JROSSBEATS, he also works across music production and scoring.

J Ross and Megan Vuma co-founded Kasi Worship to bring people together through worship and community service. Their work with The SEED Thru Arts connects arts, education and opportunities for young people.
